McTominay’s Heart Procedure a ‘Complete Success’, Napoli Says

Napoli say Scott McTominay’s heart procedure was successful, with the midfielder expected to resume training later this month.

Scott McTominay has undergone a successful heart procedure and is expected to return to training within weeks, Napoli have confirmed.

The 29-year-old underwent an ablation procedure at Spire Manchester Hospital on Tuesday morning. The minimally invasive treatment is used to correct irregular heart rhythms. A mild, benign arrhythmia was discovered after McTominay was substituted in the 56th minute of Napoli’s 2-1 Serie A defeat by Como on 30 August.

Napoli said the procedure “was a complete success”. The club added that McTominay will rest for two weeks before resuming training. The Italian champions had previously expected the former Manchester United player to return to competitive action after the international break in early October.

McTominay also sought to reassure Napoli supporters after his heart issue was announced by writing on Instagram:

“See you soon Napoli. I won’t take long.”

For now, McTominay is expected to complete his two-week rest period before returning to Napoli training later this month.
