Nollywood is mourning the sudden death of actor Chijioke Nwokafor, popularly known as Cjay Nwoks. His colleague, actress and filmmaker Nkechi Blessing Sunday, shared the heartbreaking news on Wednesday. She announced his death through an emotional video on social media. The news has since left colleagues and fans shocked.
Cjay Nwoks was the lead actor in an upcoming movie produced by Nkechi Blessing. Interestingly, the film was scheduled for release at 5:00 PM on the same day. However, the devastating news changed those plans. Nkechi reportedly broke down in tears after learning about his death. She then cancelled the movie’s release despite completing the project.
The actor, whose real name was Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, built a growing name in Nollywood. He used Cjay Nwoks as his professional screen name. Fans recognised him for his roles in movies such as Doctor Lanre, Fond of You and Godly Escort. His acting credits also include Bestbet, Escape From Vows and 365 Days Couple.
Reports show that Nwoks had more than 20 movie credits across popular film databases. His sudden passing has therefore sparked fresh tributes from people within the movie industry. However, details surrounding his death remain unclear. His family and medical officials have not publicly confirmed the cause of his death.
