The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed the commencement of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger states. The scheme said ongoing renovation work at both orientation camps prompted the decision.
NYSC announced the postponement in a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu. The statement appeared on the scheme’s official X handle.
NYSC announces new orientation timetable
Under the revised timetable, the orientation course will begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The swearing-in ceremony and cut-off date will take place on Friday, August 14. The scheme also fixed Tuesday, September 1, 2026, for the closing ceremony. It said the new schedule will allow the affected state governments to complete work on the camps.
Introducing the announcement, the scheme said:
“The Management of the National Youth Service Corps wishes to announce the extension of the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger States. This is due to the ongoing renovation works in both Orientation Camps by their respective State Governments.”
Corps members advised to plan their trips
The NYSC urged all prospective corps members posted to Sokoto and Niger states to note the revised timetable. It also advised them to plan their journeys based on the new dates. In addition, the scheme warned prospective corps members against travelling at night while heading to their orientation camps.
“All Prospective Corps Members are advised to avoid embarking on night travels to their Orientation Camps.”
DG wishes corps members safe journey
Meanwhile, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, wished all prospective corps members safe journeys to their orientation camps. The scheme added that preparations for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course are ongoing. It assured prospective corps members that the exercise will begin according to the revised timetable.
