The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, has lost his polling unit in Ilesa East Local Government Area to the All Progressives Congress in the ongoing Osun governorship election.
Aregbesola voted at Ifofin Ward 8, Unit 1 on Saturday afternoon. The election was largely peaceful, with a strong turnout recorded at the polling unit. According to the result obtained by The PUNCH, the APC secured 256 votes, while Aregbesola’s ADC polled 13 votes. The Accord Party also performed better than the ADC at the unit, securing 43 votes.
Accord wins PDP treasurer’s polling unit
Meanwhile, the Accord Party won the polling unit where the National Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party, Diran Odeyemi, cast his ballot. Odeyemi voted at Ward 1, Unit 2, Ibokun NUD Primary School, in Obokun Local Government Area.
At the polling unit, Accord scored 211 votes, defeating the APC, which recorded 178 votes. The results emerged as electoral officials continued the collation process across Osun State following the conclusion of voting.
The final outcome of the election will depend on the results from other polling units and the subsequent collation at ward, local government and state levels.
