Podcaster Azariah Southworth has been arrested in Los Angeles over alleged threats against US President Donald Trump. Federal authorities reportedly arrested the 40-year-old at his Westlake home. FBI agents surrounded the residence before ordering him to surrender.
According to court documents, Southworth allegedly made repeated threats against Trump online. Prosecutors said he used social media posts and private messages to target the president. He also allegedly shared videos that appeared to call for violence against Trump. In addition, authorities said he posted fictional content showing violence against the president.
However, the allegations did not stop with Trump. Prosecutors also accused Southworth of cyberstalking Trump’s personal lawyer. He allegedly posted the lawyer’s home address and photos of his residence online. Authorities further claimed that he contacted members of the lawyer’s family. He also allegedly shared their private phone numbers online.
Southworth now faces several federal charges over the alleged threats and harassment. These include threatening the president, cyberstalking and making harassing interstate telephone calls. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to 12 years in federal prison.
The case has drawn attention because of the serious nature of the allegations. Still, the charges remain allegations unless proven in court.
