After last weekend’s emphatic 5-2 win over Ipswich, Manchester United were brought back to earth, drawing 2-2 with Everton. Dropped points against a side United would expect to beat will prompt questions about consistency following the high of Fernandes’ hat-trick week.

Man City kept it ticking with a 1-0 win over Coventry. Newcastle drew 2-2 with Bournemouth in an entertaining encounter at St James’ Park, with two points dropped after their impressive win at Spurs last weekend. Nottingham Forest and Spurs produced a goalless stalemate, while Hull and Aston Villa also played out a 0-0 draw. Brighton and Leeds shared a 1-1 draw. Brentford and Sunderland did the same.
