Peter Obi, former Anambra governor, has congratulated Tony Nwoye on his emergence as Senate minority whip.

Nwoye, who represents Anambra North in the red chamber, was announced as minority whip during plenary on Wednesday under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a message shared on X, Obi described the senator as a committed leader and urged him to remain focused on national unity and service to the people.

“My dear younger brother, Distinguished Senator Tony Nwoye, congratulations on your emergence as the Senate Minority Whip,” Obi said.

He noted that the new role offers Nwoye a broader platform to serve Nigerians, particularly vulnerable groups.

“This elevation provides a greater platform for you to continue your service to humanity, particularly the poor and suffering Nigerians,” he added.

Obi also urged the lawmaker to stay committed to the unity and progress of the country.

“Remain steadfast to the unity of our dear country, the well-being of the people, and the progress of our nation,” he said.

He expressed hope that Nwoye would use the position to contribute to building what he described as a “new Nigeria.”
