Telstar goalkeeper Ronald Koeman Jr scored twice from the penalty spot to rescue a dramatic 2-2 draw against Cambuur in the Eredivisie.
The 31-year-old converted his second penalty in the 11th minute of stoppage time to secure a point for Telstar. Koeman had already scored from the spot in the match after Telstar were reduced to 10 men in the 22nd minute. After the break, Cambuur took advantage of the numerical advantage scoring twice to put the visitors in control.
With less than 30 minutes to go, Koeman pulled one goal back from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute. The goalkeeper then produced the decisive moment deep into added time, converting another penalty in the 101st minute.
The result earned Telstar a point after they had appeared set for defeat.
Eredivisie History
Koeman’s performance also earned him a place in Eredivisie history by becoming the first goalkeeper to score twice in a single Eredivisie match. Koeman had previously scored a penalty in May against FC Volendam. That goal proved to be the winner and confirmed Telstar’s safety from relegation.
The younger Koeman is now attracting attention for his unusual goal-scoring contributions, given his role as a goalkeeper.
