Sanwo-Olu to APC aspirants: Approach primaries with maturity, embrace sportsmanship

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, has urged aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to conduct themselves peacefully and embrace sportsmanship ahead of the party’s primaries scheduled for Saturday.

In a post on X on Friday night, Sanwo-Olu appealed to aspirants, delegates, and party members to uphold the democratic values and unity of the party during the exercise.

“I sincerely appreciate every member for your unwavering loyalty and steadfast commitment to the ideals and continued progress of our great party,” he wrote.

“I urge all aspirants across Lagos state to approach the primaries with maturity, discipline, and utmost respect for the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines,” he said.

Furthermore, he advised aspirants across the state to approach the primaries with discipline and respect for the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

“The primary election is a democratic process established to select credible candidates who will proudly fly the flag of our party,” he wrote.

He also warned against actions and comments capable of creating division within the party.

“We must avoid actions, utterances, or conduct capable of creating division,” he said.

The governor further called on aspirants and their supporters to embrace peace, fairness and solidarity before, during and after the primaries.

“The victory of one aspirant should be seen as the collective victory of the APC family in Lagos state,” he added.

Sanwo-Olu urged party members to remain focused on strengthening the APC and sustaining good governance in the state.

“Together, united in purpose and commitment, we shall continue to move our great party forward and secure success in the elections ahead,” he said.
