President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 people into the boards and leadership of 10 federal government agencies and commissions. Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, emerged as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments take immediate effect. The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced them in a statement on Monday.
Fayose to lead REA board
According to the Presidency, Fayose will chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors.
The board also includes the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors who were appointed earlier.
Tinubu names new Salary Commission leadership
President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission. He approved eight additional appointments into the commission.
Former House of Representatives member, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, will serve as the commission’s secretary. Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde were appointed commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states.
The President also appointed Dr Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Florence Tor, Engineer Lawrence Okoh and Bello Morenike Iyabode as members of the commission.
Other agencies get new leadership
Tinubu redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju from the National Lottery Trust Fund to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
He also appointed Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission. Dr Akinola Odeyemi became Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc.
The President named Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission. He also appointed Engineer Julius Oloro as Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation.
According to the Presidency, Oloro replaces the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
Fiscal Responsibility Commission gets new board
Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission. Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu will serve as chairman.
Other members of the board include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
More appointments announced
The President appointed Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. He replaces Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund in April.
Tinubu also named Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority. He replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned to contest the Benue State governorship election.
The Presidency said all the appointments take immediate effect.
