Troops Arrest Suspected Foreign Terrorist, Seizes Drugs in Borno

Nigerian troops have intercepted a suspected foreign terrorist and recovered drugs and chemicals believed to support terrorist operations in Borno State.

Troops have arrested a suspected foreign terrorist in Borno State during a security operation targeting terrorist supply networks.

Military authorities said the suspect was transporting a large quantity of illegal drugs and hazardous chemicals. The recovered items include seven compressed bundles of suspected Cannabis sativa, weighing about 30 kilogrammes, and two 10-litre containers of hydromercuric chloride, commonly known as “Suck and Die.” Other items were also recovered during the operation.

According to the spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, the seizure is a major setback for terrorist groups operating in the North-East.

He explained that intelligence reports show insurgents often rely on illicit drugs and intoxicants to prepare fighters for combat. These substances are also used to suppress fear and sustain violent operations.

By intercepting the shipment before it reached its destination, troops disrupted another part of the logistics network that supports terrorists.

Captain Goni praised the troops for their vigilance and professionalism during the operation. He added that the success reflects the military’s commitment to denying terrorists access to supplies that help sustain their operations.

The command also warned individuals who provide food, fuel, transportation, construction materials, or any form of support to terrorist groups.

It stressed that anyone found aiding or collaborating with terrorists, directly or indirectly, will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.

Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed that search, surveillance, and counter-terrorism operations will continue across the North-East until terrorist groups and their support networks are dismantled.

The military says it remains committed to cutting off terrorist supply chains and strengthening security across Nigeria’s North-East.
