Trump to hold national security meeting monday

President Donald Trump is expected to meet top advisers on Monday as the US reviews its next steps on Iran.

Donald Trump is set to hold a meeting with senior members of his national security team, according to U.S. officials familiar with the plans.

The meeting comes as the administration reportedly grows more confident that its ongoing naval blockade of Iranian ports is increasing pressure on Iran. Officials also believe current negotiations with Iranian representatives may not deliver the results Washington wants.

Sources said Iran proposed new terms over the weekend for a possible agreement aimed at easing tensions between both countries.

However, U.S. officials say the latest offer still falls short of the administration’s key conditions.

Monday’s meeting could shape the next phase of U.S. strategy as pressure mounts on both diplomacy and regional security.
