I Won’t Accept Salary As Ebonyi LG Chairman – Umahi’s Son

Chairman-elect of Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Engr. Osborn Nweze Umahi, has pledged to reject his salary and allowances throughout his tenure. He said the money would instead go towards projects and initiatives that would benefit residents of the local government. The 28-year-old emerged as chairman of Ohaozara after Saturday’s local government election in Ebonyi State.

Umahi Explains Decision To Reject Salary

Umahi said his decision to forgo his salary comes from his desire to serve the people rather than pursue personal financial gain. He contested the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emerged as the party’s candidate earlier this year before winning the council election.

Speaking after his victory, Umahi said he would not collect any salary or allowance throughout his time as chairman.

“I will neither accept any salary nor allowance as Ohaozara LGA chairman.

“I am coming to serve and not to enrich myself.”

The chairman-elect also outlined some of the areas he plans to focus on during his administration. He pledged to improve infrastructure across Ohaozara and create more opportunities for young people. Umahi also mentioned economic opportunities and better service delivery among his priorities. He said his administration would focus on initiatives that directly improve the lives of people across the local government.
