British rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly will face a retrial in Australia next June after a jury failed to reach verdicts on three rape charges at his earlier trial.
The 31-year-old, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was acquitted in July of three other rape charges, as well as one assault charge and one charge of strangulation. He was, however, found guilty of two separate assault charges.
The three rape allegations that remain unresolved relate to an alleged incident involving a 20-year-old female fan after Barrientos performed at a concert in Perth, Western Australia, in 2024. The woman alleged that Barrientos repeatedly raped and assaulted her in his hotel room. The court previously heard that the pair had consensual sex before she alleged that the encounter became violent and that Barrientos refused to stop. Barrientos has since denied the rape allegations.
Perth’s District Court on Friday set June 15, 2027, as the start date for the retrial. The proceedings are expected to last eight days. Barrientos was not required to attend court for the latest hearing. He is understood to have returned to the United Kingdom after being granted permission to leave Australia under his bail conditions. Sentencing for the two assault charges on which he was convicted in July will take place after the rape retrial.
Barrientos was born in Colombia and raised in the UK. He became widely known through his work as a content creator and his involvement with the YouTube collective Beta Squad. He has also appeared on Channel 4’s celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off and presented programmes for BBC Three.
