Ondo State Police Command Apprehends Kidnappers Captured on CCTV in Oda Area of Akure

The Ondo State Police Command arrested three suspects and rescued three victims in connection with an alleged kidnapping incident captured on CCTV in the Oda area of Akure, the state capital. As reported by ALO360, the operation took place following the circulation of the footage on social media.

The Incident

The kidnapping occurred around March 6, 2026. CCTV footage showed armed assailants forcibly dragging away a woman in front of her young child. The child ran into the house immediately after the abduction. The video sparked widespread outrage among residents and highlighted security concerns in urban neighborhoods.

The Arrests

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the State Police Public Relations Officer, issued a press statement on Sunday regarding the arrests. He disclosed that the Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal, activated its intelligence team after receiving the footage.Jimoh stated: “Acting on credible intelligence and investigative leads derived from the footage, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad carried out targeted operations which led to the arrest of one of the suspects.”

Furthermore, he explained: “During interrogation, the suspect provided useful information that led to the subsequent arrest of two other accomplices believed to have played active roles in the incident and who were also captured in the CCTV footage.”

The police identified the suspects as Mohammed Koro, aged 27 years; Muhammad Usman, aged 30 years; and Musa Alhaji, aged 23 years.

The Rescue

Police operatives rescued three victims during the operation. The victims included Tosin Adesida, a female; Adeniran Adesuyi, a male; and Adewunmi Adewusi, a male. Medical personnel at the nearest hospital provided immediate attention to the rescued individuals following their release.

Investigation and Confessions

Jimoh confirmed that preliminary investigations revealed the suspects played various roles in the commission of the alleged kidnapping. Additionally, he stated that the suspects made confessional statements. These statements aided ongoing efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate.

The police spokesperson added that authorities will charge the suspects to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
