At least seven people have died after Russia launched a large overnight attack across Ukraine.
Ukrainian officials said five people were killed in Dnipro after an apartment building was struck, while two others died in Chernihiv.
Volodymyr Zelensky said the assault lasted “practically all night” as rescue teams searched through rubble on Saturday morning. Ukraine said it intercepted most of the more than 600 Russian drones launched during the attack, making it one of the biggest assaults in recent days.
Other cities including Odesa and Kharkiv were also targeted. Meanwhile, Romania scrambled British fighter jets after drones were detected near its border. Officials later confirmed no Russian drones entered Romanian airspace and none were shot down.
Russia said it destroyed 127 Ukrainian drones over several regions and claimed control of Bochkove village in the Kharkiv region, a claim Ukraine has not confirmed.
The renewed strikes come as peace talks remain stalled and both sides continue long-range drone attacks.
Zelensky also met Mohammed bin Salman on Friday to discuss air defence cooperation and military production.
The latest wave of attacks highlights the continuing intensity of the war despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
