King Charles III urges US-UK unity in historic address to Congress

King Charles III received repeated applause as he urged the United States and United Kingdom to stand together in a time of rising global tension.

King Charles III delivered a landmark speech to a joint session of US Congress on Tuesday, calling for stronger cooperation between the two longtime allies.

Speaking before lawmakers in Washington, the King praised the deep historical bond between the United Kingdom and the United States. Both countries have stood side by side through major world events and must continue to work together to meet new challenges, he said.

Charles stressed the importance of democracy, liberty and the rule of law, saying these values remain the foundation of both nations. He noted that many American political principles were shaped by shared legal and constitutional traditions.

The monarch also strongly defended NATO, describing the alliance as vital to global security. He reminded lawmakers that allies supported America after the September 11 attacks and the same unity is needed today.

His call for continued support for Ukraine drew bipartisan applause, despite political divisions in Washington over foreign aid and military commitments.

The address was notable for its calm and respectful atmosphere. Members of both major parties listened closely, laughed at several lighter moments and gave multiple standing ovations.

King Charles used the moment to send a clear message that partnership, not isolation, is the best path through an uncertain world.
