Real Madrid confirms Dani Carvajal exit after 23 years

Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal will leave the club this summer after more than two decades in Madrid.

Real Madrid CF have officially confirmed that club captain Dani Carvajal will leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.

The 34-year-old defender joined the club’s academy in 2002 and went on to spend 13 seasons with the senior team. During his time at Real Madrid, Carvajal became one of the club’s most decorated players and played a major role in its recent European success.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez described Carvajal as a “legend” and a symbol of the club’s values. He praised the defender’s leadership, commitment, and long-standing connection to Madrid.

Carvajal struggled with injuries this season and made only 22 appearances across all competitions. Despite that, he leaves after winning multiple major trophies for club and country, including UEFA Champions League titles, La Liga crowns, Euro 2024, and the UEFA Nations League with Spain.

Reports suggest the veteran full-back could seek one final move abroad before ending his playing career.

Real Madrid now prepares for a new era at right-back as one of the club’s modern icons says goodbye.
