Abdul Danbature, president of the Arewa Youths, says Peter Obi can only become Nigeria’s president “in his dreams”.
Danbature spoke during a recent media briefing while reacting to Obi’s pledge to serve only one term of four years if elected president in 2027.
The Arewa youth leader dismissed Obi’s promise as deceptive and insisted that northern youths would not support his presidential ambition.
“Mr Peter Obi, I think you can only become the president of Nigeria in your dream,” he said.
“Because we the northern Nigerian people will not accept you.”
Danbature described Obi’s promise to spend only four years in office as a “scam”.
“Your four years turn to northern Nigeria or Nigerians is a scam,” he said.
“The northern Nigerian will not accept you and will not vote for you.”
He further claimed that Obi was not part of the political plans of northern youths ahead of the 2027 election.
“In fact, you are not part of our plans,” he said.
“We the northern Nigerian youth will decide who will be the president of this country.”
Danbature also declared that Obi could not become president under the leadership of northern youths.
“As for Peter Obi, it’s a no-go area,” he said.
“Peter Obi can never be president under our leadership.”
