Ajibola Basiru, national secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says politicians seeking electoral victory in Nigeria must align with the ruling party.
Basiru spoke during an interview on ARISE News on Monday.
According to him, the APC remains the strongest political structure for winning elections in the country.
“It makes sense for anybody who is a politician and wants to win an election to align with the APC,” he said.
The APC national secretary argued that apart from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), no other opposition platform possesses a formidable electoral structure.
“Aside the Peoples Democratic Party, the only veritable machinery for winning an election in Nigeria today is the APC,” he said.
Basiru also dismissed emerging opposition coalitions, describing them as unserious political arrangements.
“All other political concussions calling themselves coalition or confusion or something like that, they are not veritable election machinery,” he said.
“They are just comedians and jokers.”
