Russia threatens fresh Kyiv strikes

Russia says more attacks on Kyiv are coming as tensions in the Ukraine war continue to escalate.

Russia has threatened a new wave of strikes on Kyiv and urged foreign nationals and diplomats to leave the Ukrainian capital “as soon as possible.”

Russia’s foreign ministry said the planned attacks would target “decision-making centres,” command posts and drone production facilities. The warning came days after one of the biggest Russian assaults on Kyiv since the war began.

Ukraine condemned the threat, calling it “shameless blackmail” and accusing Moscow of trying to intimidate foreign diplomats and civilians.

Recent Russian strikes on Kyiv killed at least four people and injured around 100 others, according to Ukrainian officials. Residential buildings, museums, shopping centres and other civilian sites were damaged during the attacks.

Russia claims the strikes are retaliation for a Ukrainian attack on a dormitory in Russian-occupied territory, an accusation Kyiv denies.

The latest escalation highlights growing fears of a wider and more destructive phase in the Russia-Ukraine war as both sides intensify missile and drone attacks.
