US conducts new airstrikes in Southern Iran amid fragile ceasefire

The United States has carried out fresh airstrikes in southern Iran, raising concerns over the stability of the fragile ceasefire.

The United States Central Command said American forces struck a military site in Bandar Abbas after detecting preparations to launch attack drones near the Strait of Hormuz. US officials said four Iranian drones were also intercepted because they posed a threat to military forces and shipping routes.

According to Centcom, the strikes were “purely defensive” and aimed at protecting US troops and maintaining the ceasefire. Iranian media reported explosions near Bandar Abbas, while Iran condemned the attacks as a “grave violation” of the truce and warned it would respond to any further aggression.

The latest strikes mark the second round of US attacks on Iranian targets in three days. The conflict has disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy route.

Meanwhile, negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue. Although US President Donald Trump said the United States is “not satisfied” with the current terms.
