Power supply has improved in the last four weeks, says new minister Tegbe

Joseph Tegbe, the minister of power, says electricity supply has improved across Nigeria over the last four weeks based on feedback from citizens and ongoing efforts within the power sector.

Speaking to state house correspondents on Monday after being sworn in by President Bola Tinubu, Tegbe said the improvement was due to the president’s intervention and the commitment of stakeholders in the sector.

Tegbe was appointed minister of power following the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue the governorship ticket of the APC in Oyo state.

The minister said he had engaged key stakeholders in the sector since his confirmation, including officials of the Ministry of Power, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), and other agencies.

According to him, the engagements have begun to yield results, with Nigerians already noticing improvements in electricity supply.

“I can tell you, Nigerians have been giving me feedback. In the last four weeks, power supply has improved across Nigeria,” he said.

The minister expressed confidence that the gains would be sustained in the coming months, adding that the government remains committed to addressing the challenges facing the sector.

He also called on Nigerians to support the administration and pray for its success, assuring that efforts are underway to deliver more reliable electricity across the country.

“Very soon, Nigeria will be lit up. We’ll see visible improvement,” he said.
