The Dramatic Airport Arrest
He was being tracked by authorities at Murtala Mohammed International Airport. It was at 6:30 a.m. on November 6, 2025, that officers apprehended the 40 year old suspect. The suspect was trying to board a flight to Saudi Arabia for Umrah, but surveillance had tracked him for several months.
Moreover, Azeez had evaded justice before. He jumped bail in the United Kingdom after drug charges. Subsequently, he fled to Nigeria and established operations in Lagos.
Raiding the Hidden Laboratory
Operatives transported Azeez to his secret lab. They raided the facility at 17 Vincent Eku Street in Ogombo, Lekki. There they discovered another suspect, 43 year old Abideen Kekere-Ekun.
Additionally, the team dismantled equipment and seized chemicals. They recovered 148.3 kilograms of Colorado, a synthetic cannabis. Therefore this action disrupted a major production hub.
Furthermore, the lab produced other illicit drugs. Officers ensured nothing remained operational.
Background and Broader Implications
Azeez built his empire after escaping abroad. He focused on deadly substances like colos. Consequently, his arrest prevents further distribution.
Meanwhile NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi detailed the operation. Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the team. He noted this as part of ongoing strikes against cartels.
In addition the agency conducts sensitization programs. They visit schools and communities. Thus they promote awareness against drug abuse.
