The African Action Congress (AAC) has officially urged President Bola Tinubu to approve the use of the Presidential Villa for its upcoming campaign council inauguration.
National Secretary Oshiokhai Ikpeminioghena signed the formal request letter addressed to the President on Tuesday, October 21, 2026. The opposition party requested venue access for its presidential campaign council inauguration scheduled for November 11, 2026.
Furthermore, the party asked for food, drinks, and logistical support for participants attending the Abuja event.
Consequently, party leaders emphasized that granting the request would demonstrate the presidency’s commitment to multi-party democracy and fairness.
AAC Demands Equal Access and Logistical Support
The opposition party anchored its unusual request on the principles of political inclusiveness and equal treatment for all registered political parties. The letter noted that logistical assistance should mirror arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” the party stated in its formal correspondence.
In addition, the AAC argued that allowing opposition events inside Aso Villa would validate democratic tolerance under the current administration. Party organizers requested detailed guidelines and administrative conditions required to secure final approval for the venue.
Campaign Preparations Intensify Ahead of 2027 General Elections
The AAC letter forms part of wider political preparations as opposition parties ramp up structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, political analysts have expressed mixed reactions regarding the feasibility of hosting opposition campaign inaugurations within the seat of government.
Furthermore, the presidency is yet to officially respond to the bold request submitted by Omoyele Sowore’s political platform. Therefore, political observers continue monitoring developments surrounding opposition campaign logistics in the Federal Capital Territory.
Finally, the AAC reiterated its readiness to mobilize supporters nationwide as the electoral calendar progresses toward 2027.
