The Delta State Police Command has arrested seven suspected cultists and recovered a fabricated gun, ammunition and suspected illicit drugs in the state.
The suspects were arrested on September 13, 2026, in Obiaruku, by operatives of the command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU).
Police spokesperson Bright Edafe identified the suspects as Wisdom Enede, Ocheli Solomon, Nnaji Godstime, Izu Thankgod, Kester Adishi, Oghonogh Pentecost, and Adishi Prince.
Edafe said a search of the suspects led to the recovery of a gun, cartridge and quantities of illicit drugs. Other items recovered included a battle axe, mobile phones and a laptop computer.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects allegedly admitted during preliminary interrogation to belonging to Vikings and Black Axe confraternities. He added that the suspects made statements concerning their alleged involvement in internet fraud.
Police said investigations were continuing to establish the individual roles of the suspects. As well as determine whether they were linked to other criminal activities.
