Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has relieved the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, of his appointment with immediate effect.
The decision was disclosed in a Public Service Announcement issued on Saturday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor. Mbam was instructed to surrender all government property in his custody to the Secretary to the State Government.
He was also directed to hand over the affairs of the Ministry of Works to the Permanent Secretary until the state government issues further instructions.
“The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, FCAI, GGCEHF has directed the immediate removal from office of the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam,” the announcement stated.
The government said the action formed part of efforts to strengthen administration and improve the delivery of public infrastructure. It did not, however, disclose the reason for the commissioner’s dismissal or identify any particular matter connected to the decision.
Mbam’s exit brings his tenure on the Ebonyi State Executive Council to an end after a period reportedly marked by regulatory disagreements. No successor had been named as of the time of the announcement.
