The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old woman over alleged drug trafficking in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as Joy Anthony, was arrested by operatives of the command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU).
Police spokesperson Bright Edafe said the arrest followed credible intelligence received by the command. He said SAKU operatives conducted a covert operation in Agbor before arresting Anthony. According to Edafe, officers later executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in Agbor-Obi.
The search reportedly led to the recovery of a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs. The recovered substances included swinol, tramadol, codeine, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

Edafe said the suspect and the recovered exhibits remained in police custody as investigators continued to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged drug trafficking.
He added that Anthony would be charged to court after the investigation is concluded. The police did not disclose whether the suspect had entered a plea or provide further details about the alleged drug supply network.
