The federal government has introduced a fully digital platform for the authentication and evaluation of academic credentials.

In a statement by Boriowo Folasade, director of press and public relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, the move is part of efforts to improve transparency, strengthen data management, and enhance service delivery in the education sector.

According to the ministry, the new system aligns with the federal government’s broader digital transformation agenda and is aimed at improving efficiency, ensuring data integrity, and supporting evidence-based policy decisions.

The statement said all applications for authentication and evaluation of academic credentials will now be processed strictly online through the ministry’s official verification portal.

Applicants are required to register and upload all relevant documents via the platform, while their academic transcripts must be sent directly by their institutions through official email channels to the ministry for verification.

The ministry added that physical visits for verification are no longer required, as the entire process will now be conducted electronically.

It said the transition is expected to simplify procedures, reduce processing time, and strengthen the credibility of academic credential verification in the country.

Applicants were advised to comply with the new guidelines to ensure smooth processing of their requests, while enquiries can be directed to the ministry through its designated email channels.
