The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission from 2021 to date to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.
The new deadline is September 30, 2026, giving affected candidates additional time to regularise their admission status. JAMB had earlier set August 31 as the deadline for the exercise. JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed the extension in a statement on Saturday. He said the decision was made to give affected candidates a final opportunity to take action on outstanding admission offers.
According to Benjamin, the extension covers outstanding regular and CUIIA admission offers. Candidates who accept their offers will be able to print and collect their admission letters, while those who reject them will have their profiles changed to “Not Admitted.”
JAMB extends deadline for old admission offers
The Board said the exercise is aimed at updating its records and maintaining accurate national admission data. JAMB explained that some candidates may still have old admission offers on their profiles even though they are no longer studying at the institutions where they received the offers. Others may have changed their programmes or moved on to a different course of study.
Candidates in such situations can accept the outstanding offer and then apply for the appropriate correction or deletion where necessary. The Board also addressed candidates who are currently pursuing a second degree but still have an earlier admission offer that they never accepted. Such candidates can reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.
September 30 is the final deadline
JAMB stressed that the extension is the final opportunity for affected candidates to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.
“There will be no further extension after 30 September 2026,” the Board warned.
Any admission offer from 2021 to date that remains neither accepted nor rejected when the deadline expires will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” status in JAMB’s records. The Board therefore advised all affected candidates to use the additional time to check their admission status and take the necessary action before the deadline.
JAMB further warned that candidates who fail to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period risk losing the offer.
