Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick as Poland produced a dominant 6-0 victory over 10-man Romania in the Nations League.
Romania’s hopes of competing in the match suffered an early blow when Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin, who is on loan at Fiorentina, was sent off in the 22nd minute. Poland took advantage of the numerical advantage and quickly gained control in Warsaw.
Lewandowski opened the scoring from the penalty spot before adding his second goal early in the second half. An own goal then extended Poland’s advantage, while Piotr Zielinski and Jan Bednarek also found the net as the hosts continued to punish Romania.
Lewandowski completed his hat-trick to cap a remarkable individual performance and register his seventh three-goal haul for Poland. The 38-year-old striker has now scored 92 goals for his country. A feat that further extends his record as one of Poland’s most prolific international players.
The result leaves Poland third in Nations League Group B4, while Romania remain fourth.
