Academy Shifts from Classroom Training to Digital System
The Nigeria Revenue Service Academy will launch a new Digital Learning Experience Platform on May 20. The platform will modernise staff training and improve professional development across the organisation.
The Academy designed the system to replace periodic classroom sessions with continuous, tech-driven learning. It aims to improve efficiency, performance, and staff growth.
Director of the Academy, Adeolu Akinyemi, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday.
He explained that the platform will transform how employees learn and develop skills.
“The platform represents a major shift from traditional, classroom-based training to a modern, technology-driven learning ecosystem designed to support continuous professional development, performance improvement and career growth,” Akinyemi said.
Platform Introduces Flexible and Interactive Learning
The new system will deliver training through microlearning modules and practical simulations. It will also include scenario-based exercises and gamified learning tools.
Staff will learn at their own pace and complete short, focused training sessions. This approach will make learning more flexible and engaging.
In addition, the platform will introduce a digital reward system. Employees will earn points, badges, and virtual coins for active participation. Leaderboards will also track performance across departments and regions.
Akinyemi said the system will change how staff view learning within the service.
“Learning will no longer be seen as a periodic obligation but as a continuous, self-driven process that is practical, engaging and rewarding,” he said.
System Links Learning to Career Growth
The platform will allow staff to track progress and manage personal learning paths. It will also provide access to training materials from any location.
Furthermore, the Academy will use performance data to identify staff for promotions, specialised roles, and international opportunities.
Akinyemi said the reward system will also encourage consistent participation across all levels of staff.
“The introduction of a digital reward economy, including a marketplace for redeemable benefits, will further incentivise participation and learning consistency among staff,” he said.
Academy Prepares for Full Rollout
The Academy has already planned sensitisation programmes, onboarding sessions, and pilot tests ahead of the launch.
Officials believe the platform will improve knowledge sharing and strengthen overall service delivery.
According to Akinyemi, the goal focuses on building a more adaptive workforce.
“The objective is to build a workforce that learns continuously, adapts quickly and applies knowledge effectively,” he said.
He added that the system will also improve transparency by making learning records and performance data visible across the organisation.
