Afrobeats star Davido has challenged Nigerian politicians to explain how they made their money. His comment came after former Anambra State governor Peter Obi discussed his business career and wealth.
Journalist Rufai Oseni shared part of Obi’s interview on social media. He asked if other politicians could give similar accounts of their finances.
“Can every Nigerian politician tell us how they made their money like this?” Rufai asked.
Davido then replied,
“None of them can try it.”
His comment sparked reactions from fans and social media users. Many understood his statement as a challenge to Nigerian politicians.
During the interview, Obi explained how he built his wealth before entering politics. He said his business career included working with international brands. He also mentioned his interests in the banking sector. According to Obi, he had already built his financial base before taking public office.
Obi also addressed questions about his wealth and offshore assets linked to the Pandora Papers. He maintained that his wealth existed before his political career. The former governor added that politics made him financially poorer. However, he said he had no regrets about serving the public.
Davido’s comment has now added fresh attention to the debate over politicians’ sources of wealth.
