Nigerian Army troops have rescued the wife of a retired brigadier general following her abduction from her residence in the Federal Capital Territory.
The woman was abducted on September 1, 2026, prompting troops from the Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters Garrison to launch a coordinated operation to locate her and track the kidnappers.
The operation focused on several suspected escape routes as troops pursued the abductors and worked to secure the victim’s release.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops advanced through the Aco Estate–Goza Community axis. It was there they eventually made contact with the kidnappers.
The Nigerian Army said the criminals, overwhelmed by the troops’ rapid response and superior firepower, abandoned the victim and fled. The woman was subsequently rescued at Angwan Sabo Village.
Troops then intensified the pursuit along the Aco Estate–Angwan Sayawa axis, while additional personnel were deployed to block possible escape routes.
The operation continued into September 2, when troops intercepted suspected fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate. Two suspects were arrested during the operation.
The troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine and 19 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
The Nigerian Army commended residents for their vigilance and cooperation. Further reassuring the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property.
