Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated again following a new round of military attacks and sharp warnings from both sides.
US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran will “pay the price” after recent hostilities, accusing Tehran of delaying negotiations and failing to reach a deal with Washington.
Trump claimed Iran had been “completely defeated” and dismissed its military capabilities, despite ongoing exchanges between the two countries.
Iran responded with strong warnings of its own. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would leave “no attack or threat unanswered,” while Iranian officials accused the United States of undermining diplomatic efforts through military actions and inconsistent messaging.
The latest escalation began after the US targeted Iranian military infrastructure near the Strait of Hormuz following the downing of a US military helicopter. Iran later launched strikes against US-linked targets in the region, including sites in Bahrain and Jordan, according to Iranian authorities.
The renewed confrontation comes despite recent suggestions from Trump that a new agreement between Washington and Tehran could be close. Iranian officials, however, say continued military actions have damaged the prospects for meaningful negotiations.
With both sides trading threats and military strikes, uncertainty continues to surround the future of US-Iran relations and regional stability.
