United Arab Emirates to leave OPEC amid Iran war tensions

The United Arab Emirates has announced it will leave OPEC, shaking global oil markets during a regional crisis.

United Arab Emirates said on Tuesday that it will exit OPEC next month.

The decision comes as the Iran war continues to disrupt energy markets and create uncertainty for the global economy. OPEC producers have faced growing difficulties shipping oil through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global crude exports.

The UAE also voiced frustration with fellow Arab and Gulf states, saying regional support during recent Iranian attacks was too weak politically and militarily.

Diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash said Gulf cooperation had fallen short during the crisis.

Donald Trump has also criticised OPEC in recent weeks, accusing the group of keeping oil prices too high.

The UAE’s exit could reshape oil politics and increase pressure on global energy supply chains.
