The body of an unidentified woman was discovered on Thursday morning in a wooded section of the Jos Wildlife Park Forest Reserve, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The woman was found close to a stream at about 9:30am, following a distress alert received by security operatives. According to security sources, the woman’s family had reported her missing after she did not return home. Relatives subsequently organised a search, which led them to the area where her body was located.
The sources said the corpse bore visible wounds on the arm and face, suspected to have been inflicted with a machete. A worker at the park confirmed that the body was found but declined to be named. Also citing a lack of authorisation to speak publicly about the matter.

“We woke up and discovered the body and immediately contacted the security operatives,” the staff member said.
He explained that security personnel later arrived at the scene, examined the area and commenced preliminary inquiries into the incident.
Investigators are now working to establish how she died and determine whether her death was connected to a criminal attack. Her name has not been released, while the exact cause of death remains unknown pending further investigation.
