Yaya Mayweather, daughter of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, has been ordered to pay $50 million over a 2020 stabbing incident. A Texas judge awarded the huge sum to Lapattra Lashai Jacobs, who Yaya stabbed during a fight at NBA YoungBoy’s home.
According to court documents obtained by XXL, Jacobs will receive $40.105 million in compensatory damages. The amount covers physical pain, mental anguish, lost earnings and disfigurement. She will also receive $32 million for future damages, including physical impairment and continued pain.
On top of that, the judge awarded Jacobs $10 million in exemplary damages. The court found that Yaya knowingly committed aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The judge also ordered her to provide details of her bank accounts, contracts, income and other financial assets.
The incident happened on April 3, 2020, at NBA YoungBoy’s Louisiana home. Yaya pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in April 2022. Reports say Jacobs was at the house when Yaya arrived and became upset by her presence. The argument soon turned physical, and Yaya grabbed two knives from the kitchen. She stabbed Jacobs twice in the arm and bicep. Jacobs later underwent surgery for her injuries.
Yaya and NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, were dating at the time. The pair share a son, Kentrell Gaulden Jr. Jacobs is also one of the rapper’s children’s mothers. The latest court judgment now puts a massive financial burden on Yaya. It also brings fresh attention to the violent 2020 clash.
