Nigeria’s Air Force says fresh operations have dealt another blow to insurgents in Sambisa Forest.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that several terrorists were killed during targeted air strikes in the Yuwe axis of Sambisa Forest in Nigeria’s North-East region.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation followed sustained military pressure and actionable intelligence. Surveillance missions reportedly confirmed the presence of armed fighters hiding inside fortified structures and bunkers before the strikes were launched.
NAF said its aircraft used precision-guided munitions to destroy the targets, neutralise multiple terrorists, and eliminate key logistics facilities. A post-strike assessment later confirmed the success of the mission.
The military added that continuous air operations are weakening terrorist networks, exposing their positions, and forcing them into reactive movements.
Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Aneke praised the operation and said the Air Force would continue intelligence-driven missions until terrorist elements are completely neutralised.
He also reaffirmed the military’s commitment to national security, troop protection, and civilian safety. NAF stated that all operations would continue under established rules of engagement with efforts to minimise civilian harm.
The latest strike comes months after similar operations in Azir and Musarram areas of Borno State, where dozens of suspected terrorists were reportedly killed during coordinated attacks.
Sambisa Forest has long served as a stronghold for insurgent groups operating in the North-East and remains a major focus of counterterrorism operations under Operation Hadin Kai.
Security forces say pressure will continue until the area is fully secured.
