US president signals uncertainty as tensions with Iran persist despite ceasefire claims.
Donald Trump has refused to confirm whether the ceasefire with Iran is still in effect, warning that the conflict could continue for another two to three weeks. He made the remarks during a phone interview, saying, “We’ll see what happens,” when asked if the truce had been broken.
Trump emphasized US military strength, claiming the war had already been won “from a military standpoint,” while suggesting outcomes would depend on whether a deal is reached. He also said the US now has control over the Strait of Hormuz following the launch of “Project Freedom.”
The comments come after renewed hostilities, including reported Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates. This has raised fresh concerns about escalation. Trump also warned oil prices could spike significantly as tensions affect global supply routes.
Despite ongoing negotiations, key issues—such as Iran’s nuclear programme—remain unresolved.
With no clear confirmation on the ceasefire, the risk of a prolonged conflict continues to loom.
