Barcelona failed to reach the historic 100-point mark in La Liga after losing to Alavés.
FC Barcelona suffered a surprise defeat to Deportivo Alavés, ending the club’s hopes of achieving a 100-point La Liga season.
The match was decided by a goal from Ibrahim Diabate, whose strike secured a vital win for Alavés in their fight against relegation. The defeat also snapped Barcelona’s 11-match winning streak in the league.
Barcelona entered the game knowing they still had a mathematical chance of reaching 100 points this season. However, the loss means Hansi Flick’s side can now finish with a maximum of 97 points.
The 100-point milestone has only been achieved twice in La Liga history — by Barcelona under Tito Vilanova and Real Madrid CF under José Mourinho.
Despite the setback, Barcelona remain league champions after an impressive domestic campaign under Flick.
