Barcelona extend Hansi Flick contract until 2028

Barcelona have secured Hansi Flick’s future after another successful season under the German coach.

FC Barcelona have officially extended the contract of manager Hansi Flick until 2028.

The agreement had reportedly been settled weeks earlier but was finalised as the season neared its conclusion. Barcelona also included an option to extend the deal by another year until 2029.

Flick, 61, guided Barcelona to another La Liga title this season and maintained a perfect home league record at Camp Nou. The club also won a domestic cup under his leadership last year.

The German coach had previously been under contract until 2027. Speaking recently, Flick said he felt he was in the “right place” at Barcelona and remained focused on winning the UEFA Champions League with the club.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta reportedly wanted a longer-term agreement, but Flick preferred a shorter contract structure.

Barcelona praised Flick for building a competitive squad that remains true to the club’s football identity while restoring the team’s status among Europe’s elite sides.
