Military operations in Nigeria’s North-East have led to the rescue of abducted civilians and the neutralisation of terrorists.
Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, have rescued abducted civilians and neutralised several terrorists during ongoing operations.
According to a statement by the operation’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops conducting offensive operations in the Amuda area successfully rescued two abductees from Ngoshe Community in Borno State.
The victims, identified as 20-year-old Maryam Muhammad and her one-year-old son, Bello Muhammad, were among those kidnapped during an attack. The military said they had been held in a terrorist enclave within the Mandara Mountains before escaping. This came after sustained military fire missions forced the insurgents to abandon the area.
The rescued victims received initial medical attention and were later reunited with their family through community leaders in Ngoshe. The operation also recorded the neutralisation of terrorists and an increase in the surrender of insurgents’ family members.
The military says operations will continue across the North-East to dismantle terrorist hideouts and secure the safe return of victims.
