Fresh missile attacks from both sides are raising fears of a wider Middle East conflict.
Israel has launched retaliatory strikes on military targets in western and central Iran after Tehran fired missiles at northern Israel. The Israeli military said it targeted military sites, while Iranian state media reported explosions in Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz and other cities. Iran later responded with new missile launches towards Israel, prompting fresh air defence interceptions.
The latest exchange marks the most serious test of the ceasefire that has been in place for two months. The escalation follows Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut and growing tensions involving Iran-backed groups across the region, including the Houthis in Yemen.
As both sides continue exchanging attacks, concerns are growing that the fragile Israel-Iran ceasefire could unravel and trigger a wider regional conflict.
