China’s Stranded Astronauts to Return from Space Station

There was a space debris incident delaying the return of the three Chinese astronauts from the Tiangong space station. After six months of a mission, the astronauts were caught in an unforeseen delay. Space debris hit their Shenzhou 20 spacecraft, damaging it.

Authorities decided to postpone their scheduled November 5 return. Their arrival on November 1 on Shenzhou 21 meant relief for the stranded team.

Preparation for the Return Journey by the Astronauts

During the loss of time, the astronauts, Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui and Wang Jie, remained safe and continued working on the station. They are now flying on Shenzhou 21 for the return trip.

In addition, China points out that precautions are being taken by their space agency. They will closely monitor any perceived space debris. Such incidents, in turn, activate those protections for any forthcoming missions.

Probe Underway

Specialists look into the damaged Shenzhou 20 to investigate the impact of debris. This event signals an increasing risk factor for activities in space.

Meanwhile the new crew is taking over, they plan to return next year on board their own ship. This switch guarantees mission continuity.

Expected Safe Landing

With the astronauts heading home, they are looking at a landing site located in Inner Mongolia. Back up teams are in the plains for their safe arrival. Recovery teams are on alert for assistance.

In conclusion, the delay tested their mettle, but everything ended quite successfully. Their return is yet another leap forward for China in building a presence in space.
