Plateau Security Operatives Arrest Kidnap Suspects, Robbers, Terror Link in Major Crackdown

Suspects Paraded During Security Briefing

Security operatives in Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State have arrested several suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, motorcycle theft, and terrorism-related activities.

The Chairman of Qua’an-Pan Local Government Council, Dr. Christopher Audu Manship, disclosed the arrests during a security briefing in Doemak on Friday. Authorities also paraded some of the suspects during the event.

According to a statement issued by the chairman’s Director of Press and Publicity, Danaan Cletus Sylvanus, the operations formed part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime across the council area.

Kidnap Plot Uncovered

One of the suspects, Thomas Dayoung, allegedly confessed to planning the abduction of his employer after a personal disagreement.

Investigators said Dayoung recruited an associate, Austin Danaan, and other accomplices to carry out the operation.

However, when the group failed to locate the intended target, they allegedly kidnapped the employer’s daughter-in-law instead.

Security agencies later tracked and arrested the suspects during a coordinated operation. They remain in custody as investigations continue.

Robbery Suspect Returns Stolen Money

In a separate case, armed robbers reportedly blocked the Kwande axis of Qua’an-Pan using road obstacles.

As a result, an accident occurred, killing two travellers and leaving several others injured.

The attackers allegedly robbed passengers travelling from Lafia and carted away cash and livestock.

Following a complaint by one of the victims, Muhammadu Salisu from Shendam Local Government Area, security agencies launched an investigation.

Subsequently, operatives arrested Umar Baba, who allegedly admitted participating in the robbery.

Security officials said the suspect returned ₦800,000 and refunded another ₦500,000 realised from the sale of three stolen rams.

Motorcycle Theft Syndicate Under Investigation

Meanwhile, security operatives arrested Abdulsalam Musa of Kwalla community over alleged motorcycle theft.

Investigators said the suspect confessed to stealing more than three motorcycles.

Furthermore, he reportedly revealed that members of the gang operated with AK-47 rifles.

Authorities have intensified efforts to arrest other members of the syndicate.

Suspected Terror Collaborator Arrested

In another development, operatives arrested Ali Adams from Jipial in neighbouring Nasarawa State over alleged links to terrorist activities.

According to security sources, Adams confessed to belonging to a network of more than 40 individuals involved in criminal and terror-related operations across Plateau and Nasarawa states.

He is currently assisting investigators with further information.

Chairman Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Crime

Speaking during the briefing, Dr. Manship reiterated his administration’s commitment to combating insecurity.

He stressed that criminals would find no safe haven within Qua’an-Pan.

“Our administration will not provide any hiding place for criminals. We will continue working closely with security agencies to protect lives and property,” he said.

Security Agencies Commended

The chairman also praised the military, police, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for their professionalism and cooperation.

In addition, he directed that recovered funds be returned to their rightful owner.

Manship further thanked Caleb Mutfwang for supporting security efforts across the state, describing him as a dependable partner in the fight against insecurity.
