Russia has issued a direct warning to the United Kingdom after confirmation that British-made drones were used in strikes targeting military and industrial sites inside Russia. This includes oil refineries and Wildberries logistics warehouses.
The Russian Embassy in London published a statement accusing the UK of “deliberately opting for an escalation of the Ukraine crisis,” describing Britain as “an accomplice and co-perpetrator of the bloody crimes and terrorist attacks.” The statement warned that “London’s actions will inevitably carry consequences for which it will have to answer.” Further adding that the deeper Britain’s involvement, “the higher the price it will pay.”
The Ministry of Defence responded without backing down. A spokesperson told BBC News that Britain stood “shoulder to shoulder” with Ukraine. Also stating that Russia “should be in no doubt about the resolve of this Government to stand against Russian aggression, in Ukraine and against the UK and our allies.” The UK, the spokesperson added, remained committed to providing Ukraine with the equipment it needs to defend itself against what they called Putin’s illegal invasion.

A military source confirmed to the BBC that UK drones, built by two British companies, had been used in attacks. Those attacks are said to have caused more than £35 billion in economic damage inside Russia. Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova separately confirmed that drones using UK components had struck targets including a fuel depot in the Kamensky District of the Rostov region. Ukraine has targeted Wildberries repeatedly. Also saying that seven of the ten largest logistics centres belonging to the Russian online retailer have been disabled.
The warning from Moscow comes amid an escalating cycle of drone warfare. On Saturday night, Ukraine launched around 822 drones toward Russia, with 600 targeting Moscow in what the city’s governor described as “one of the most massive drone attacks in recent memory.” Seven deaths were reported across Russia. On the same night, Russian attacks on Ukraine killed at least seven people and injured more than 39. The most recent Russian strike on Monday killed nine people and wounded 23, including a child.
In April, the UK’s Ministry of Defence announced its largest ever drone package for Ukraine. It comprised of tens of thousands of devices including long-range strike drones.
Britain has committed to arming Ukraine for the long term. However, Russia has committed to making that commitment costly.
