The conflict between the United States and Iran has intensified with fresh strikes and new claims of retaliation.
The US strikes on Iran continued for a sixth consecutive night, according to US Central Command (Centcom). The military said the operation targeted Iranian military sites to weaken the country’s military capabilities. Centcom also confirmed that US forces boarded a vessel and intercepted ships as part of its renewed blockade of Iranian ports.
Iranian state media claimed the attacks struck civilian infrastructure. Officials said bridges, a railway station and an airport were hit. The BBC verified damage to a bridge west of Bandar Abbas. Iranian media also reported that seven people were killed.
Iran expands retaliation
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) said they responded by attacking US surveillance radar sites in Oman and military targets in Kuwait, Bahrain and Syria. Jordan later announced that it intercepted three Iranian missiles without casualties.
The Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed. The disruption has slowed oil shipments and raised concerns about global energy supplies. The International Energy Agency warned that prolonged instability could affect international markets.
The US strikes on Iran come as both countries continue to exchange military action despite renewed calls from world leaders for diplomacy and negotiations.
