Several Communities Suffer Heavy Damage

A powerful windstorm has destroyed houses, food storage facilities, and valuable property across several communities in Kebbi State.

The disaster affected communities in Suru Local Government Area, including Sambera, Jeroki, Becinga, Nassarawa, Tunga Soja, Tauken Mage, Tunga Muminu Oro, and Ciwan Wanzam.

Families Displaced After Storm

The storm struck on Wednesday night and caused widespread destruction across the affected areas.

Many residents lost their homes after strong winds damaged buildings and ripped off rooftops. Families in several communities now face displacement and hardship.

Residents confirmed that no deaths occurred during the incident.

Lawmaker Visits Affected Areas

Faruku Abubakar Maisudan, who represents Suru Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, visited the affected communities to assess the situation.

During the visit, he sympathised with victims and encouraged them to remain hopeful despite the losses.

Appeal for Government Support

Maisudan promised to present the matter before Governor Nasir Idris and the state assembly.

He assured residents that authorities would work toward securing urgent assistance for affected families.

Emergency Agency Promises Relief

Officials from the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency joined the assessment tour.

The agency pledged to provide relief materials and support to help residents recover from the disaster.

Officials also stated that the state government plans to respond quickly to ease the suffering caused by the storm.
