Multiple travellers are feared dead or kidnapped after armed terrorists ambushed vehicles along a major road in Zamfara State.
Several people were reportedly killed and others abducted after suspected terrorists attacked travellers on the Gusau-Magami-Dansadau road in Zamfara State.
Police authorities said casualty figures were still being verified as security operatives continued rescue and investigation efforts following the attack.
The Gusau-Magami-Dansadau route has become one of the most dangerous roads in Zamfara due to repeated cases of bandit attacks, kidnappings, and armed violence. Residents travelling through the area often move with security escorts because of persistent threats from criminal groups.
Last year, Dauda Lawal launched the construction of a 108-kilometre road project in Dansadau to improve transportation and strengthen security in the region.
Despite ongoing security operations, attacks on communities and highways in Zamfara continue to raise concerns over safety in northwestern Nigeria.
